Filgueiras Continues Podium Run at WGI

FilgueirasRolling into the hills of historic Watkins Glen, NY The 2015 F2000 Championship Series continued with round’s 3 & 4 at famed Watkins Glen International Raceway. 21 year young driver Eric Filgueiras could not have been more excited to challenge the course and test his abilities. Filgueiras was a first time visitor to WGI and with only 6 sessions of track time it would certainly be a fast learning process.  After two practice sessions Friday Eric ended the day in a respectable 6th place on the time sheets.

Chastain Motorsports WGI Weekend Report

Sam ChastainWatkins Glen, NY – It was a busy weekend for Chastain Motorsports with three entries in the F1600 Formula F Championship Series, plus a single car in the F2000 Championship Series, totaling five races at Watkins Glen International. The team’s drivers, Sam Chastain, Parker Chase, Will Harvey and Andy Lewis, logged lap after lap and booked serious race craft experience.


Beasley Around Grant for Watkins Glen Victory

Photo: Kniffin PhotographyWatkins Glen, NY – Sam Beasley made his move early in the Sunday F2000 Championship Series race at Watkins Glen International, passing David Grant for the lead on the third of 14 laps and taking his second win of the season for Legacy Autosport. Grant would finish second after starting from pole, while Eric Filgueiras completed the podium in the fourth race of the season.


Grant Delivers Last Moment Pole at WGI

David Grant. Watkins Glen, NY – David Grant was the last car on track as qualifying for F2000 Championship Series race two came to a close at Watkins Glen, with the Polestar driver grabbing pole by a slim .015 seconds over Sam Beasley. Eric Filgueiras will start third alongside Saturday pole winner Tim Paul. Austin McCusker and Steve Bamford will start the race from row three. Click here for full results.

Photo: Kniffin PhotographyWatkins Glen, NY – Steve Bamford crossed the finish line at Watkins Glen for his first career F2000 Championship Series race win after a closing stages duel with Sam Beasley. The two traded the lead back and forth over the course of the final three laps, with Bamford separating himself coming to the checkered flag after Beasley went from seventh to first during the 14-lap race. David Grant finished third.


Paul Scores Watkins Glen Pole

Tim PaulWatkins Glen, NY – On a drying track Tim Paul controlled race one qualifying for the F2000 Championship Series at Watkins Glen. Paul, in his first appearance of the 2015 season, was the car to beat for the 30-minute session, racing to pole by 1.6 seconds over David Grant. Eric Filgueiras, Steve Bamford and Dean Baker followed to complete the top five. Click here for full results.
